Evaluated Community Participants
Since 1997 there have been over 100 B.C. communities
participate nationally or provincially in the Communities in Bloom
program. All communities start at the provincial level and must
achieve 5-Blooms before moving onto the National level.

FINALISTS from BC competing against communities from across Canada:
Ashcroft, Campbell River, Castlegar, Chetwynd, Fort St. John, Harrison
Hot Springs, Kamloops, Quesnel, Trail, West Kelowna/Westbank First
Nation.
Results for the National Finalists will be announced at the National
Symposium on Parks & Grounds and Awards Ceremonies, hosted in Quebec
City from Oct. 26-29, 2011.

Community Showcase Entries
Peachland
Bats in the Attic
District of Peachland & Chamber of Commerce
When exploring a renovation of the historical 1908 Peachland Primary
School; approximately 2000 bats were discovered, one of the largest
Yuma colonies in B.C. Since then, the District, Chamber of Commerce
and local business have worked together to raise funds and apply
for grants to renovate the school and preserve the bat colony.

Centennial Way Beach Avenue Project
District of Peachland
Funded through the Federal and Provincial infrastructure stimulus
program, the Centennial Way Beach Avenue project provides a continuous
accessible multi-use pathway spanning approximately 1.2 kilometres
along Peachland.s scenic
