History |
People, Plants & Pride ... Growing Together
This is what our program is all about!
National beautification initiatives have flourished in Europe for
decades and it was from those successful programs that Communities
in Bloom took its inspiration. Beginning in 1995 with 29 Canadian
communities, the national Communities in Bloom program has grown to
encompass hundreds of jurisdictions across the country with most provinces
hosting regional editions.
Since 1997, over 80 BC communities have participated in the CiB program
and in 2005, British Columbia Communities in Bloom became a not for
profit society responsible for its funding and operations in this
province.
It is our belief that the BC Communities in Bloom program complements
British Columbia's world renowned wilderness beauty and that the program's
continued growth and development will have a positive impact on tourism,
on attracting new business development, on horticultural and other
retail activity, and on general economic prosperity in all corners
of our Province. |
